Canopy Beds

Canopy beds were first used in the medieval period , but by the 16th century , kings and queens all slept on canopy beds which were covered with a fabric to give the bed a more luxurious and a glamorous look & feel .

Definition :
canopy bed is a decorative bed somewhat similar to a four-poster-bed. A typical canopy bed usually features posts at each of the four corners extending four feet high or more above the mattress. Ornate or decorative fabric is often draped across the upper space between the posts and a solid swath of cloth may create a ceiling, or canopy directly over the bed (Wikipedia).

Canopy Beds were covered with fabric , but nowadays they are more modernized by keeping the post visible which gives a more modern feel , also some beds are made of steel , wood or mirror depending on what you prefer , if you would like to have a canopy bed , consider your room to have a spacious feel to give the bed its visibility , also choose what time of bed finish you would like according to your theme .

Here are some images using canopy beds , in different themes :

Blend of modernity & ethnicity The Indus

Today I would like to share with you the interior of a new restaurant recently opened its doors

The Indus

What attracted me most about this place that it is an indian restaurant, but the feel of it somehow makes you wonder of its ethnicity , although it has the bright colours of the indian heritage , the use of turquoise gave the whole place a more modern ethnic feel to it .

There is a great contrast of having the mustard like carpet and the turquoise chairs , but having all the wooden mashrabiya to the place gave it a more cultural feel which is what I loved the most about the place .

so here are some images of the new Indus restaurant that is located at the Royal Oprah Galleria :

The Bar area

The glass opening for the kitchen gives the space a more modern feel to it .

Ths use of the brown wood into the interior also gives this space alot of warmth and somehow its mark.

The mashrabiya screens which are surrounding the whole place gives this warmth feeling , also what  I love is how the glass behind them gives this bright light .

Placing a status in the center of the restaurant .

The view from the Indus restaurant .

for those of you who love indian cuisine , check it out

Till then & get inspired by the indian culture decor .

Earthtones

Earth-tones

Recently Im working on a new project using the earth-tone palette .
I love earth-tone colours as it is compatible with my star sign ;)
So I wanted to share with you some interiors using earth-tones and what does these colours really do to  an interior space .
Earth-tones colours are usually subtracted from the nature of the earth , they are the colours which are found in dirt, moss, trees and rocks.
Earth tone colours are warm colours with the tones of brown involved .
Using earth-tone colours in such places like living rooms & foyers stimulates conversation , because they are warm colours that tend to give you comfort & makes you feel relaxed .

Here are some images using the earth-tone colours :

Tips:

Two options , whether to go cool or warm , using both the earth tones colours .
I prefer the cool palette to be used to give a tranquil ambiance .
It also depends on what you are going for , when thinking of earth-tones always think of the finishes, what to be used , also apply the wood feel into your space it gives that warmth to a place .

till then get inspired & Love the Earth ;)
